Universal DVD Titans are favoured to take the Universal DVD and Universal Solutions seventh anniversary T20 title when they face Universal Solutions Tigers in today’s final at the Blairmont Community Centre ground from 14:00 hours.

Both teams recorded commanding victories over West Berbice All Stars and East Berbice Warriors in the semifinal two Wednesdays ago and were set to meet in the final last Tuesday, but persistent rain forced a postponement to today. Cricket loving fans in the Ancient County will also see the losing semifinalists battling for the third place.

The Titans enter today’s final with a huge advantage, especially with the services of dropped West Indies players in leg spinner Devendra Bishoo and opening batsman Sewnarine Chattergoon. They also have at their disposal National T20 selectee Rajiv Ivan who will lead the Titans. Also in their lineup are the gifted Kandasammy Surujnarine, Kevin Ramdeen, Eon Hooper, Clinton Pestano and Jason Sinclair.

On the other hand, the Tigers led by teenager Shawn Pereira, will depend on the experience of Richard Ramdeen and Royston Crandon, the capable Khemraj Mahadeo, Harrinarine Chattergoon, Keon De Jesus and fast bowler Michael Newland, whose semifinal figures of 5-17 placed him in a good position to take home the Best Bowler award.

In the third place playoff, which bowls off the day’s action at 09:00 hours, West Berbice All Stars will be looking to fast bowler Keon Joseph who is expected to spearhead their attack, especially with Brandon Bess’ lack of confidence that was displayed against the Titans. Keith Fraser has begun to show the signs of being a useful customer with both bat and ball.

Additional support will come from skipper Sherwyn Mc Pherson, Karamdat Bissoondyal, Romesh Boodram, Rafael Estriado, Devendra Lalsa, Waqar Hussain and Daneshwani Prashad.

However, with a lineup that includes powerful T20 batsman Jonathan Foo, along with Joemal La Fleur, Romario De Jonge, Yogindra Harrinarine and Seon Hetmyer, the East Berbice Warriors will be heavily favored to take this one against the home team.

A 10/10 softball exhibition match between Universal Solutions and Builders Lumber Yard will be played between the third place playoff and the final.

The four teams are: Berbice Titans: Rajiv Ivan (Captain), Eugene La Fleur, Sewnarine Chattergoon, Kandasammy Surujnarine, Devendra Bishoo, Kevin Ramdeen, Jason Sinclair, Eon Hooper, Clinton Pestano, Linden Austin, Akram Rahaman, Chandrashakar Arjune and Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai.
