GSL Helps Hogg Island Fun Day

In keeping with its aim of developing softball cricket throughout Guyana, the Guyana Softball League (GSL) recently donated a number of trophies to the development of softball cricket in Hogg Island, Essequibo River.
In presenting the trophies, treasurer of the Guyana Softball League, Selena Azeez, remarked that it is the aim of the body to ensure that all communities develop to a standard where they can be competitive in the sport so that one day a champion team can come from this island. She noted that the organisation is hoping that others can follow their example and provide for the island as they strive to ensure that recreation is provided on a more consistent basis.
The recipient, Sonia O’Selmo, thanked the GSL for the donation. She said that the items will go a long way in encouraging the people of Hogg Island to participate in softball competitions and also ensure that they live a healthy lifestyle.
Meanwhile, the Hogg Island Independence Day of Sport has been re-scheduled for July. According to organisers, the Day of Sport, which was schedule for May 26 last, was cancelled because of the inclement weather. A date will be finalised soon.
