The Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) will add another run to its innings to complete a century in existence with a gala Old Year’s Night Party at the club’s pavilion. The Centennial Celebrations Party will transition into 2012 when the club will become 100 years old. This special event gets underway at 10pm and concludes at 6am on New Year’s Day. Most of the celebrity patrons of the club are expected to join in the celebrations that Georgetown Jazz Project and Stereo Sound System will certainly ensure are kept entertained.

Tickets to the event are $6,000 per person with supper, breakfast and local drinks inclusive; group tables are also available. President of the Club, Alfred Mentore told Kaieteur Sport yesterday that all proceeds will go toward the development of the club that was formed in 1912.

“The purpose of this party is to raise funds to improve the image and general outlook of the club in the year that is becomes 100. In doing so, we’ll be able to showcase the club in a positive way as one of the oldest landmarks in Guyana,” Mentore indicated.

He said that patrons should be encouraged to support the event geared at holistically developing sport in Guyana. The DCC has a history of hosting successful fund-raising events and Mentore is hoping that the Old Years Night Party is yet another successful project.
